LensCoat Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 VC VXD Lens Cover Review
The LensCoat Classic cover is a fitted neoprene layer for the Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 VC VXD. Clear plastic windows over the lens controls, so you can see and use them with the cover on. It adds protection from scrapes and bumps and breaks up the outline of the lens, with an optional zoom sleeve that covers the section of barrel exposed when the lens is zoomed; it is not a hard case or a weather seal.

Tamron 50-400mm VC VXD owners who want a fitted neoprene cover with access windows for the lens controls.
You own a different lens, need a padded carry case, or expect a front-element protector or a weather-rated shell.
A long lens is expensive and exposed. The LensCoat Classic cover for the Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 VC VXD wraps a long zoom that extends in neoprene to protect against scrapes, bumps and dust, and helps break up its outline in the field. We recommend it for Tamron 50-400mm VC VXD owners who shoot outdoors and want a fitted cover.
Made for this lens
LensCoat lists this cover specifically for the Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 VC VXD. Clear plastic windows sit over the lens controls, so you can see and use them with the cover on. It also includes an optional zoom sleeve that covers the section of barrel exposed when the lens is zoomed.
Neoprene, concealment and fit
The cover is made from premium neoprene, which LensCoat says works as a thermal barrier so the lens is more comfortable to handle in hot and cold temperatures. By breaking up the recognizable shape of the lens, it also helps make your gear less noticeable to wildlife. The Classic version is a fixed, glove-like slip-on fit; LensCoat also sells a V2 Velcro quick-wrap style that is easier to remove for cleaning, and a combo pack with both.
What it does not do
A neoprene cover adds protection against surface scrapes and bumps. It is not a hard case, it does not seal the lens against weather and LensCoat makes no drop-test claim. Our telephoto lens cover guide covers how it fits with caps, hoods and cases.
